Gazelle.com - Sell and Recycle Your Electronics

    gazelle

Gazelle is an online green forum that lets users sell and recycle their used electronics. Users earn money and do their part to help save the environment by selling their old cell phones, laptops, and other gadgets to be either resold or recycled by Gazelle. After users send in their electronics, Gazelle inspects the items and sends a payment within about a week’s time. Gazelle pays for shipping, and even sends users a box for them to ship their items in. When Gazelle receives electronics that are still in working condition, they remove all personal data from them, and sell them to a variety of retailers and wholesalers. If they electronics are not usable in their received state, they are appropriately recycled.

    In their own words

“Gazelle wants to change the world – one cell phone, one laptop, one iPod at a time. It is our purpose – and our promise – to provide a practical, rewarding way for people to finally rid themselves of all those old cell phones, digital cameras, and gaming systems that they no longer use, but can’t seem to find a way to let go of. Too often when people think of recycling, they rush straight to smashing things into bits for parts. We believe that reuse should always come first. If your GPS unit still works, why not keep it in circulation AND get paid for it? If reusing isn’t in the cards, then let us recycle that vintage camcorder. We think of it as ReCommerce. Yeah, we’re green. Green for you with dollars in your pocket. Green for the environment with fewer electronics being trashed. It’s good to Gazelle. That’s our promise.”

Why it might be a killer

Gazelle is an innovative and environmentally-conscious site that benefits all parties. The company makes it simple for users to send in their items, and easy to receive their payments. The incentive is there, as is the means to simply execute the process.

    Some questions

How can partnerships with additional electronic good stores expand Gazelle’s reach? Can links with social networks help spread the word?
