FriendFeed.com - Receive Friends' Updates in One Feed

There are so many social websites out there nowadays that it can be downright stressful trying to keep track of all your friends, what they're doing, what they're uploading, and who they're talking to. FriendFeed is a yet-to-be-launched service that combines all these updates into one single feed.

For example, if your buddy uploads some photos on Flickr or updates his music on iLike, you'll receive notice of these actions without having to log in to every social network or which you both or you are members. To use FriendFeed, all you have to do is sign up for an account (send them an email to be granted a spot on the waiting list, as the site has not yet been launched). You specify your user names for each social site you belong to, and then add friends as you would normally. In turn, your friends do the same, and in no time you'll all be receiving one single, direct feed of all of your updates on all of your social sites. FriendFeed accomplishes this by synching all your site updates by using web-crawling techniques. For private sites, FriendFeed capitalizes upon their APIs to access account update information. Even if some of your friends don't use FriendFeed, you can still obtain some information about them; for example, if you know their Facebook name, you can use FriendFeed's "imaginary friends" feature to receive their updates, as long as you are friends on Facebook.

    Some questions about Friendfeed.com

FriendFeed has music sites, video sites, bookmarking sites, photos sites, social networks, and more, but what's missing from the mix seems to be professional-networking sites like Doostang and Idealist; does FriendFeed plan on adding such sites to its feed?

Why Friendfeed.com might be a killer

Finally. FriendFeed is the perfect way to keep track of all your friends in one single, easy feed. No more shuffling back and forth between multiple tabs in multiple windows trying to keep yourself up to date on your friend's lives as you attempt to access your 10 social networks simultaneously. Especially useful is the "imaginary friend" service; you can still receive updates on your friends even if they aren't registered with FriendFeed. FriendFeed is the ideal solution to this modern-day annoyance, and the site should definitely gain popularity quickly; it already supports about 20 social sites, even prior to being launched. I am really looking forward to seeing what this service will do for all of us social networkers out there.

    Friendfeed.com In their own words

"Our goal is to make content on the Web more useful and discoverable by taking advantage of your social connections. FriendFeed is a simple tool that scratches the surface of that goal by making it easier to keep track of the web pages, videos, music, and photos your friends and family interact with around the Internet".
