FlashCardFriends.com - Learning in the Digital Age

What do you get when you take flashcards and mix it up with social networking? FlashcardFriends. It’s learning the digital way.

Young students can create flashcards for any subject they’re studying; or, they can browse through flash cards created by their fellow class mates or their teachers. Each set of cards is categorized by subject, e.g. French and Math. There are also several viewing options available. You can choose to study the cards in the traditional sense, in which the term is on one side and the definition on the other, or you can treat the terms as a list, which means you’ll be able to see both term and definition at once. Pictures can be imported to illustrate the meaning of a term; you’ll also find audio capabilities, for example if you’re testing your spelling, the site will read out the words for you to spell. FlashCardFriends generates grades and recommends additional tests as well. Flashcards may be printed to be used offline too. Ratings and comments help students pick out the most useful cards, while sharing capabilities allow kids to pass their favorite cards to friends.

    Flashcardfriends.com In their own words

“Flashcard Friends is a website focused on education. It enables people to create, learn and test themselves using the proven method of flashcards…except that these are online, not printed. You might say, OK, I get the flashcards part, but what about the friends? Well, we offer social networking capabilities for friends to share flashcards with one another.”

Why Flashcardfriends.com might be a killer

As kids are growing up with the internet, they’ll love this set up. It takes flash cards and makes them more fun, more Myspacey. As a learning tool, this works exceptionally well. Students are more likely to pay attention and to absorb information not only through the flashcards, but also through the tests.
