    FeedBlitz.com - RSS to Email

    feedblitz

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, readers, aggregators, these things really aren´t so simple in reality. But they are a common site these days and you certainly wouldn´t want to miss out, despite the headaches you´re bound to get being less than savvy in the technical arena. No need to despair though, there is a solution for you and it´s called FeedBlitz. Feedblitz converts your blog and feed into emails for subscribers. This part is free. For value added services such as the ability to customize your emails with your own design and logo, there is a monthly fee of $4.95 per feed per month; the Pro Plus subscription for $24.95 a month gives you a flat rate for as many feeds as you need. Readers needn´t register with Feedblitz to receive updates, and they can subscribe to any blog or RSS even if it´s not registered with Feedblitz. Everyone knows about email, but RSS feeds, and the whole lot of aggregators, XML etc. isn´t as easy; so Feedblitz provides an alternate solution; you´ll get more subscribers without having to do anything more than sending emails.

    In their own words

“ FeedBlitz is a service that monitors blogs, RSS feeds and Web URLs to provide greater reach for feed publishers. FeedBlitz takes all the headache out of converting feed and blog updates into email digests, delivered daily to subscribers" inboxes. FeedBlitz manages subscriptions, circulation tracking, testing, and is compatible with all major blogging platforms and services such as Blogger, Typepad and FeedBurner. Unlike other blogmail services, FeedBlitz is reliable, scalable and fully supported. No betas, wish lists or road map items here. You"re in production, and so is FeedBlitz."

Why it might be a killer

Email is the most ubiquitous means of internet communication; not everyone signs up to RSS feedsâ€"and most people don´t understand it anyways, but they do have email; FeedBlitz makes subscriptions easy. You can control your content offline; emails also give you an idea of who´s reading and who´s subscribing, regular RSS feeds don´t give you that option.

    Some questions

Isn´t this rather 1.0? RSS is practically ubiquitous and it´s not as complicated as some make it up to be. Will users really prefer email? It´s just more stuff to clutter your inbox.
