Eskobo.com - The Simple Ajax Start Page

    eskobo

Eskobo is an uncomplicated start page. You’ll find your daily news headlines which can be categorized and arranged to your liking. Stories are taken from popular news sources such as Yahoo News, Slashdot, NYT, the Beeb, Boing Boing, Engadget, and del.icio.us. You can select the number of headlines you’d like to see for each source. Each headline is accompanied by a brief pop-up description. There’s optional font enlargement and web notes for jotting down your thoughts; there are five font colors available and a title bar. On the side you’ll find various categories, entertainment, sports, tech, etc, as well as feeds. Overall, Eskobo is on the simple side; it’s adequate for those who don’t desire much customization or fancy features.

    In their own words

    "Customize your news."

Why it might be a killer

Eskobo is notable for its simplicity. There are no complicated features which might be puzzling to some. It’s customizable, but easily so. The Ajax interface means you can drag and drop headlines/features anywhere on the page. It’s also relatively quick to load. Eskobo is an ideal portal for those who don’t want to struggle with too many features.

    Some questions

Eskobo is just one of many start pages. Is there a need for any more? It doesn’t have very many features. The design is rather piecemeal; the fonts are dreary and hard to read unless you enlarge them. There are no social apps. There’s limited customization.
