PediaX is an Ajax mirror of Wikipedia. It brings you Wikipedia on Google Maps. There are apparently 50,000 geo-referenced articles available. Also, PediaX shows the twenty most popular places in the selected area of the map. Zooming in or out automatically updates the information on the map. Move over the map to see markers for locations that Wikipedia has an entry. Click on any marker and a brief description of the article will come up. Other main features include: autocompletion on searches, usage data stats, auto magnification, and article intros are preloaded as you hover over a link. Options for viewing include country, province, region, and natural land formations. A newsletter is also available.

PediaX brings in some interesting options to Wikipedia. For one the autocompletion is definitely practical. Over all it’s a nice look at the sorts of integration and data presentation that can be integrated with Wikipedia.

This site doesn’t seem to function well. The map doesn’t load and it appears to not function across different browsers. The auto-magnification can be clumsy and intrusive. This site as is doesn’t seem very useful at all.
