Egorcast.com - A Twitter Jott Mashup

Twitter"s the cat"s meow; it was big at SXSW and continues to be the it web phenomenon. One of it"s virtues is ithe ability to SMS tweets via a mobile. Now texting is big in Japan, where they are veritable experts; some people, however, aren"t such ardent fans and find the job akin to Chinese finger traps-- those cell phones have such little keys. In order to facilitate mo-blogging, the kids at Big in Japan have created a Twitter/Jott/Jaiku mashup called Egorcast. Egorcast let"s anyone post to Twitter using Jott the voice to text service. You can also use it for Jaiku and Wordpress. So to get started, simply create an Egorcast email address, connect it with your Twitter, Wordpress or Jaiku account, and finally add your Egorcast email address to your Jott account. It"s not hard at all, is it?

"EgorCast is a simple ‘mashup´ created by the development team at Big in Japan. The idea is to take two great ideas, put them together and make ‘two great ideas that taste great together.´ Leveraging various resources in the organization with expertise with Rails, SMS, Voice, VoIP, Postfix, Gentoo and Apache the team was able to build the service in less than a week. EgorCast was not designed as a business, but an example of the sort of projects our team is capable of building."

Egorcast makes a popular service, Twitter, even easier to use. It"s very simple yet effective. Plus it"s fun.

How long will the service last? As it"s meant to be more of a fun, accomodating tool, is there more in store, or will the site simply perish after a few months?
