Edu20.org - The Future of Online Education

    edu20

Edu 2.0 is a free, web hosted education management system. Basically, it's a platform for teaching and learning online. Teachers can use it to give courses on major topics or on more focused subject matters like calendaring during French Revolution. The software comes with integrated calendars and schedules, student roster, attendance tracking, assignment authoring, grade books, wikis and chat, and messaging. Students can enroll in classes online, they'll be privy to automated homework alerts, assignments can be submitted via the internet, and they'll have immediate access to their grades and other online resources. Teachers can collaborate and network with students in the Community section. All info is secured and kept private; and again, Edu 2.0 is completely free.

    In their own words

"edu 2.0, meaning 'next generation education'.
Make teaching and learning more efficient and enjoyable.
Free web-based education site with comprehensive features for teachers, students and parents.
Anyone can teach and/or learn using the system, whether it's at school, at home, or on the move."

Why it might be a killer

This is a great site, in the democratic spirit of Web 2.0. It's free to use and it's also remarkably ad-free, so you aren't supporting some giant conglomeration while receiving your education. It's got a pretty comprehensive feature list, and the interface is extremely user-friendly. Online integration just makes sense. These days it's easier for students to turn in assignments via email and it saves trees too.

    Some questions

How will Edu 2.0 stay afloat without ads, etc? Will it add more multimedia options—e.g. video and slideshow integration, or the ability to add recorded classes?
