DoppelMe is an avatar creation site which lets you personalize an avatar to resemble yourself, which you can then use as your likeness in blogs, forums, communities, etc. It's pretty similar to other avatar sites; you can pick from a variety of hairstyles, expressions, accessories, and clothing. If you register with DoppelMe, you can also log in from any computer in order to make changes to your "mood" (the service will adjust all of you DoppelMes wherever they appear on the net accordingly). If you're not satisfied with one avatar, the site will let you create more, and you can even join DoppelMe groups to unite your friends, family, or team. Webmasters can enable DoppelMe on their sites as well. You don't need to create an account to make and download an avatar, but if you want access to all the site's features then you'll need to register (for free).

It's really easy to create an avatar with DoppelMe, and the site offers a wide range of colors and styles for each category. The "groups" feature could be especially interesting and useful on websites which feature teams, classes, or families.

It would be great if the site's interface included some more images of what possible avatars can look like; will they include an "avatar gallery" later on? It's hard to tell what is different and/or new about this service; as there are many avatar creation sites, how will they compete? These avatars aren't as dynamic as others and actually somewhat resemble cavemen because of their slouchy posture.
