Cranky.com - If you’re over the hill and need a search engine for you, look here.

    cranky

To the target market for Cranky.com: I hope you take no offense and instead see the beauty in what this site is offering you. After all, you didn´t grow up using the internet like us Gen-X and Gen-Yers, so it makes sense that there should be specialized internet applications just for you. Now there is a search engine that tries to conduct its searches keeping in mind that someone around or over 50 years old is on the keyboard. Cranky produces search results that are clearly labeled and headed in such a way that it´s easier to see what the article offers you before you click on it. For example, I typed in “Viagra” and the results that appeared were very helpful for someone who wants to read FAQs about the drug, find medical reports, see pharmaceutical companies´ websites, find Wikpedia articles, and even see government reports relating to Viagra. Each article was clearly labeled so I knew what it was about, instead of those funny-looking URLs that pop-up when I search with that newfangled Google thing! Hmm, do you have to show a senior citizen ID card to use this site, because if not I might be using it, too!

    In their own words

“Eons is a 50+ media company inspiring a generation of boomers and seniors to live the biggest life possible. Founded by Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com, Eons was launched in July 2006.

Why it might be a killer

The crowd who likes Eons is going to find Cranky an easy-to-use search engine that produces useful results. It facilitates searches and uses larger fonts so that strained eyes can read. Although it´s likely that most older people who use the internet are used to Google and Yahoo by now, they will at least be intrigued by Cranky´s specifications toward their needs.
