    Cornelios.org - A Cross Browser Web Office

    cornelios

CorneliOS is a web based operating system that operates right in your browser. Its design is meant to facilitate ease of use, so that you’re not left befuddled and scratching your head by complexities . With CorneliOS comes a complete Content Management System (CMS) so that users can easily create and manage websites. There’s also a Database Management System for building any kind of database. CorneliOS allows multiple users to have an account on a single server; each user is provided with a private desktop, however files can be shared through the virtual file system. Users can create dedicated apps for CorneliOS or use the system to manage other apps. It’s free open source software accessible all the time, anytime.

    In their own words

"CorneliOS is a virtual web based multi-user OS that runs in your web browser. All applications and files are stored on the CorneliOS server and are accessible all the time and anywhere. CorneliOS is platform and browser independent and offers a web application development framework."

Why it might be a killer

CorneliOS advertises it’s facility of use; the combination of easy website management and a collaborative work environment may be quite tempting to those interested in open source projects and web development.

    Some questions

How functional is it? As it’s still in an early stage there are bound to be bugs. What about community support? Will more users generate buzz, or will remain relatively unknown and underused?
