    Base2race.com - Chart Progress Toward Workout Goals

    If you're an athlete, it's always helpful to have a system for managing your workouts and charting your progress toward your goals. With Base2race, you can do exactly that. Base2race in an organizational application designed specifically for athletes. Base2race is divided into four different categories: Workouts, Goals, Races, and Periods. Naturally, you'll want to begin with the workout section. To do so, sign up for an account and begin logging your performance. To add a workout, click the "Add workout" button, and you'll be able to specify the date of the workout along with any relevant times or distances. You don't need to mark a workout as completed once you're done; Base2race will automatically assume you've finished it once the date on which the workout was scheduled has passed. If you miss a workout you can either delete it, or mark it as missed. In the "Goals" section, you can type out up to three goals which you can refer back to over time; for example, "Run a sub-5 mile by January". The "Races" section functions similarly to the workout section; you can enter in your times and distances and add or delete races. Here, however, the races are divided into three different categories depending on their level of importance to your training and goals. Lastly, the "Periods" section divides up your workouts into five different categories (Base, Build, Peak, Race, and Transition), in accordance with the intensity of your workouts with respect to races and goals. Base2race is free to use.

    Why it might be a killer

    Base2race is a well-organized and extremely thorough way of keeping track of your workouts and charting your progress. It offers a much more extensive variety of features than other similar workout tools, and it is catered more specifically toward certain types of workouts (races) than on generic trips to the gym. It's perfect for the serious runner, swimmer, or cross-country skier.

    Some questions

    Base2race probably wouldn't serve the casual gym-goer too well, as its features are too complex and some of the terminology is beyond what a basic athlete might understand.
