The Awesome Highlighter is a tool for highlighting text on a webpage that you’re sending to a friend. The upshot is that your pal will appreciate your links a lot more if they have some clue as to why you’re sending it to them. What better way to do that than use a big, fat, yellow virtual highlighter to underscore the most interesting bits? Your friends will thank you for it and it’s super easy to use. To start, simply enter in the url of the webpage you want to send. Then, select the text to be highlighted, save it and copy the URL into an email, forum or blog.

| The AwesomeHighter firefox extension allows one to highlight the page but there is no way to save it. Hopefully it won't be long before it's fully functional. In the meantime the CiteBite bookmarklet works great - but unfortunately you can highlight only one continuous passage of text - multiple passages is the AwesomeHighlighter killer feature. | ||

| CiteBite is very similar, but it links directly to the selected text, not just to the page. And best of all, there's a firefox extension that let's you add it to your right mouse button...features that would make awesomehighlighter even more awesome! | ||
