You may have heard about SmartTickr, a useful little Ajax reader for RSS-Feeds and the usual suspects like Twitter, Flickr, MySpace, eBay, Facebook, et. al. It has different viewing modes including scrolling, cards, and bookmarks so you can change your viewing style at whim. It’s also got a number of interesting widgets and tools to go along with. One of those is ApiTickr. Like SmartTickr, ApiTickr is very beta and sparse, but it’s also a nice addition to the SmartTickr family. ApiTickr deals with those hard to remember/understand API’s that get in the way for the average blogger, or site host who isn’t fluent in code. ApiTickr does the work for you. It’ll add a SmartTickr widget on your site. All you have to do is handle your mouse and with a few clicks you’re done. Just choose the widget type (you can go for the scrolling look, or headlines only, or pics only, for example), then submit the widget to SmartTickr, and modify the layout. Finally, just grab the code and copy it to your website. It’s all free too.

ApiTickr is a nice add on to SmartTickr. It makes adding widgets to your site a breeze so that you don’t have to deal with all those confusing API’s. It’s also got a number of viewing styles and options.

Is ApiTickr truly useful? Is there a large demand for it? The site itself is a little vague and confusing. Will this deter users?
