Akimbo.com - PC TV On Demand!

    akimbo

Coming soon to a PC near you â€" Akimbo. You may already know of Akimbo from its RCA Akimbo Player, which delivers on-demand entertainment to the TV without the hassles of DVD´s or late fees or midnight rushes to the video store. Now Akimbo has announced that its line of high-quality programming will be available to download on a PC. Windows XP and Vista users will be able to access popular channels like The Horror Channel, a gay network, sports, indie movies, animation, and much more (their video collection boasts over 10,000 programs) via a media application; shows can be watched before the download is complete and later on, Akimbo videos can be burned onto DVD´s. You"ll get to watch TV on your PC, get the latest movies and specialty programming without ever having to leave your desk and there is no monthly fee.

    In their own words

“No matter how many channels are available on TV, 9 times out of 10, there"s still nothing "good" on. Why is that? Perhaps it is because the programs are not about topics of individual interest and they are not shown at convenient times when viewers want to watch them.

Why it might be a killer

Solving the problem of what to watch. Akimbo brings you everything you could wish for â€" quality programming that delivers; this isn´t standard cable with nothing but low-rate cooking shows and reality games; Akimbo videos are worth watching and you don´t have to go to the video store or stuff Netflix envelopes.

    Some questions

Will people want to pay just to watch TV on the PC? Akimbo maintains that consumers will want Internet-delivered video-on-demand on multiple sources - the TV, the PC and even mobile devices.

There are already sites filled with pretty interesting content out there and they are free. Won´t people prefer viewing TV shows and movies from their flat screen TV´s? Again, Akimbo says it"s about letting consumers decide where they want their video.
