AddATweet.com - Commenting The Web Via Twitter

    addatweet

Systems for annotating the web are nothing new. They stand as a way of democratizing proceedings and giving those who don’t have a blog of their own a chance and a space where they can air their views. They are likewise useful for those who are studying anything with “virtual” classmates, EG classmates that are spread the world over.

In principle this new system makes for placing comments even in those sites that do not have such a feature by default, and do so using your regular Twitter profile. AddATweet offers you a sidebar where you can visualize the tweets that a page has been the recipient of, and it enables you to filter and rearrange as the way that will suit your needs best.

For the time being, this sidebar is available only to Firefox users. It will be certainly interesting if the programmers broaden the scope and somehow support different browsers. If they can replicate the functionalities the bar currently has as far as Firefox is concerned then we will be into something good.

    In their own words

“AddATweet's mission is to make every page on the Internet commentable. Today, commenting systems are implemented by individual web sites and have no ability to talk to each other. Users are typically anonymous or must create accounts on each of these sites. Also, comments are often moderated, preventing people from truly being able to express themselves when their opinions are in contrast with those of the web site owner. We believe that there is a need for a global commenting system. One that lets users omment on any page on the Internet, based on free speech principles.”

Why it might be a killer

It has the potential for becoming the new commenting service for the web, as adding a Twitter touch always pays out.

    Some questions

Will this service become available for other browsers? If so, when will that materialize?
