Systems for annotating the web are nothing new. They stand as a way of democratizing proceedings and giving those who don’t have a blog of their own a chance and a space where they can air their views. They are likewise useful for those who are studying anything with “virtual” classmates, EG classmates that are spread the world over.

In principle this new system makes for placing comments even in those sites that do not have such a feature by default, and do so using your regular Twitter profile. For the time being, this sidebar is available only to Firefox users. It will be certainly interesting if the programmers broaden the scope and somehow support different browsers. If they can replicate the functionalities the bar currently has as far as Firefox is concerned then we will be into something good.
