One reason Firefox is such a popular browser is for its huge variety of add-ons, the most popular being adblockers. Still adblocking tools can’t cover everything and most of us have simply learned to tune out ads, but they are still very perceptibly there. That’s where Add-Art steps in and changes the game in a surprising and delightful way. Add-Art is a Firefox plugin which replaces all the ads on any given website with works of art. Every two weeks 5-8 new artists, selected by established curators, will be put on display over the ads. Images are cut down to banner size, however artists can customize ads for each project. They can also choose to target sites or simply default to any page with ads. Each page displays one artist. Currently, the exhibited art work depicts Hiroshige’s One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
