TweetWire.com - Twitter Based News Aggregator

Take your favorite light comm presence app—Twitter, of course—mix it up with Tweetscan, the real time search engine for Twitter, and throw in some Yahoo Pipes action and you get TweetWire, the first human filtered Twitter news service. It looks similar to any regular news aggregator, except that the links are picked by humans and not robots, which therefore makes for more interesting leads and stories. You’ve got four rudimentary categories—the 2008 Elections, Tech, Sports, and Celebrity. The twitter links to each story have been shortened using TinyURL. TweetWire also has links to other useful Twitter based apps, so after checking out the news, you can go on to other useful Twitter stuff.

  In their own words

“TweetWire.com grabs the freshest links posted to Twitter around the clock. Get the most out of citizen journalism with Twitter and TweetWire.”

Why it might be a killer

TwitterWire is an excellent concept. Twitter, after all has become the place to pick up headlines. By combining Yahoo Pipes and TweetScan, TwitterWire has created a news aggregator which picks up the most interesting and compelling stories, at least to those who use Twitter. It’s easy citizen journalism.

  Some questions

How often are new links added? What sources does TweetWire use to get its links? Will more categories be added soon?
