There are already lots of services on the market that allow you to send large files by uploading them to the web for download by the recipient. This technique has become popular since many email services don’t allow such large attachments to be sent, received, or both. One of the newest such services is FileMail.com, which looks to circumvent many of the downsides to some of its competitors. FileMail allows one of the largest upload sizes available for free – 2GB – and does not require users to register. It also has an easy upload tool that lets you select multiple files to upload at once. Once the files have uploaded, FileMail automatically sends your desired recipients an email including a link to download the file(s) from the web and a small optional message that you wrote. There is a limit on how many days a file will be available online, and how many times it can be downloaded.

"The idea behind Filemail.com was born summer 2007 in Oslo, Norway. We felt that it was too difficult to email large files (>50MB)… After googling a bit looking for solutions, sites like megaupload.com and rapidshare.com came to our attention. These sites attempt to address the problem of emailing/sharing large files in various ways. After testing pretty much all of them we still didn't feel satisfied - they all have one or more flaws (in our opinion)… We decided to try to make something better."

FileMail.com has several legs up on many competitors. It’s 2GB file size limit is much higher than that provided by a lot of other free services, and it is convenient to use because you don’t have to register. Perhaps best of all, you can select multiple files for upload at once, which is much easier than individually selecting each file.
