In their own words
"This website has started as a section devoted to New York City on Petergof, somewhere in May of 2000. Then in January of 2001 I have created Wired New York.
Statistics: About 150 thousand visitors come to Wired New York every month.
Wired New York Forum was established in November of 2001, and now has over 11 thousand registered members."
Why it might be a killer
Only in July 2007 it had 160,000 visitors (880,000 pageviews), which means that it is a good point to start any search, and also a vantage point from where to advertise, and its non-tourist oriented outlook can reach a very select target audience.
Some questions
It would be good for wirednewyork.com to have some addresses and phone numbers, which it presently lacks, which means that in order to plan your day out or your trip, you must do a part of your research out of the site. Will they make this improvement, or keep the connoisseur-style attitude?
