WhatYah.com - Social Media Sharing, Categorizing

    whatyah

WhatYah, as in what yah watching, or listening to, is a social network cum media sharing site. It’s relatively simple, you invite friends, make media lists, and share. Movies, shows and games each have their own respective categories. Under each section is a list of titles. Users can add these to their own media lists or write reviews. Additionally, they can form lists which identify the media they want. Thus, if your friends get the media you want, you’ll be notified and vice versa. All members get a profile which shows all the content they’ve contributed to the site as well as comments they may have received. Registration is necessary for membership, but you can browse the site without signing up.

    In their own words

“WhatYah was launched in 2008 & founded by Ashley Smith, the goal was to provide anyone the ability to know exactly what media titles your friends have so you can share everything.”

Why it might be a killer

This is a very simple site, yet it works well as for organizing and sharing your media files/lists. It could become a catalogue of items borrowed/wanted between friends. This way, if a friend has an item you want, you can borrow it and they can keep tabs, ensuring that you return it.

    Some questions

The social network market is saturated. WhatYah is neither novel nor impressive. How will it compete with the more robust networks out there?
