rVibe, as with a host of other services, is endeavoring to help you access, share and find new music. They’re approaching things from the software side. It’s a Windows software which is a hybrid between a music player, social site, and store. Users, upon downloading rVibe, can both buy and share songs using two different pricing structures. Songs are shared via P2P a la Kazaa or Napster. To stream a song, you’ll need to dish out $.03 per song; downloading a song in its entirety will set you back $.99 and that’s without DRM. If a friend purchases a song you’ve recommended, you’ll get a 5 cent referral bonus which can be spent on music or donated to charity. Also, every time you stream a track you for 3 cents you’ll get that amount knocked off the purchase price. Take note, too, there’s now a personal streaming feature available which means you can always have access to your tracks and you can share your purchases tracks with pals via their player widget.
