    W3.rVibe.com - New DRM-less Music Sharing Tool

    w3

rVibe, as with a host of other services, is endeavoring to help you access, share and find new music. They’re approaching things from the software side. It’s a Windows software which is a hybrid between a music player, social site, and store. Users, upon downloading rVibe, can both buy and share songs using two different pricing structures. Songs are shared via P2P a la Kazaa or Napster. To stream a song, you’ll need to dish out $.03 per song; downloading a song in its entirety will set you back $.99 and that’s without DRM. If a friend purchases a song you’ve recommended, you’ll get a 5 cent referral bonus which can be spent on music or donated to charity. Also, every time you stream a track you for 3 cents you’ll get that amount knocked off the purchase price. Take note, too, there’s now a personal streaming feature available which means you can always have access to your tracks and you can share your purchases tracks with pals via their player widget. Works with Windows only.

    In their own words

“A music sharing community where you can network with friends, discover new music and stream or download legally from over a million independent tracks!

And it's easy and fun to use.”

Why it might be a killer

rVibe is a neat and slick little music tool. The social component is simple and effortless and managing tracks is easy. Apart from that, their DRM-less stance will surely win music fans over, as they’ll be able to share and download tracks without problems.

    Some questions

How wide of a selection of music does rVibe have? With other sites providing free streaming, will users be lured away?
