ViralVideoChart.com - Find Out What's Hot in Videos

    viralvideochart

Viral Video Chart has given its users a respite from crappy video overload, with their independent and comprehensive video chart. Instead of having to wade through millions of videos of cats and nonsense, viewers can turn to Viral Video Chart to find the best videos out there. At the moment, VVC compiles numbers and blog references relating to the top three video sites—YouTube, Google Video and Myspace. Each day a chart of the previous day’s twenty most popular videos is published. VVC scans millions of websites everyday to find what’s hot. There are also monthly and weekly compilations available. Users can get the chart emailed to them each Friday or they can sign up to the top ten daily videos via RSS. There’s also a widget which allows you to publish the chart on your own website or blog.

    In their own words

“We scan several million blogs a day to see which online videos people are talking about the most. We count the number of times each video is linked to and the number of times each video is embedded. Every morning, after we've had a cup of coffee, we publish a list of the 20 videos that generated the most buzz over the previous day. We reckon this is a pretty good yardstick of what's hot and what's not.
At the moment we only look for references to videos on the three most influential video sharing sites: YouTube, Google Video and MySpace. We plan to add more soon.
We also considered wiretapping your email and IM to see what you were talking about, but figured it was illegal ;)”

Why it might be a killer

This provides a definite fix for your boredom. Avid video viewers needn’t waste their time on rubbish—VVC spoons feeds them the most talked about videos. It also gives an interesting take on popular cultural memes at any one given moment.

    Some questions

Why doesn’t VVC track videos from other sites such as Yahoo or DailyMotion? Is there any way for users to add comments?
