Veenix.com - TuneExplorer Finds Sonic Similarities

Veenix TuneExplorer is a new Mac based recommendation engine for your personal music collection. It deciphers various sonic qualities—pitch, pitch variance, fundamental strengths and other qualities—to give you music that matches your mood.

Playlists are compiled based on the ‘energy’ or likeness to songs that you’ve chosen beforehand. Once the playlists are set you can listen to them directly through the TuneExplorer or bring them over to your iTunes. TuneExplorer was developed first as a demo of Veenix’s music analysis software; Mac users (OS 10.4 and higher) can download the beta version for free.

TuneExplorer goes further than other services to bring you music that matches your mood. It goes beyond the standard bpm analysis of similar services and actually analyzes music for tones and pitches and other sonic qualities. Playlists are easily compiled for you and it will keep the mood going.

Some people might find that the TuneExplorer doesn’t get the relevancy part down. Songs may not fit with one another or users may simply prefer a variety of genres in one playlist in which case TuneExplorer can’t help.
