VBS.TV - Finally Something Worth Watching

    vbs

You might be thinking, ‘not another internet TV site,´ and you´d be right if this were any other YouTube replica; but, good viewer, you have not seen VBS.TV. VBS.TV has actually got very fresh and interesting content which is hardly surprising given that Spike Jonze of Being John Malkovich fame is the creative director. Basically, VBS is what internet TV should be; there are delightful interviews with the likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Michel Gondry, there are Serge Gainsbourg music videos and you´ll find an Austrian back metal band called Belphegor; if the international cotillion doesn´t suit you, check out the sit downs with Crispin Glover and Benjamin Cho, or the hilarious Do´s and Don´t´s commentaries featuring Sarah Silverman and a hostof other funny peeps. VBS, incidentally, if you haven´t caught on, has partnered up with Vice Magazine (yes, that Vice, you know you can´t get enough of those Don´ts), so expect to find a classic bawdy, fake-depressive sarcastic aesthetic that intends to bowl over mainstream platitudes. Where else would you find a short docu piece about Colombian sewer dwellers, Jack Pennate, and Toxic West Virgina ? It´s clever, droll, maybe disgusting, etc; it´s just good, so watch.

    In their own words

“VBS is an online broadcast network. We stream original content, free of charge and 24 hours a day. We carry a mix of domestic and international news, pop and underground culture coverage, and the best music in the world. People have used words like eclectic, smart, funny, shocking, and revolutionary to describe VBS, but we kind of just snapped our fingers in their faces and went, “Whatever. Tell us something we don´t know.”

Why it might be a killer

VBS.TV offers you truly new content, not some home videos of some guy doing karaoke. It´s got quality. It´s different. You needn´t pay a cent. Really, forget about cable, the internet is where it´s at.

    Some questions

Will this type of programming find a wide fan base? Will viewers be too aghast or indifferent? Are they too complacent with viral videos and dancing little Koreans et. al., the stuff so rampant on YouTube?
