UnhearIt.com – Get Catchy Songs Out Of Your Head

UnhearIt.comSome say that fighting fire with fire is always the best course of action. The people who have devised this website certainly think like that.

You see, Unhear It lets you get overly-catchy songs out of your head in a radical way: by playing an equally catchy new song to you, in the hopes that this new song will supersede the old one.

Some might say that such an approach is comparable to substituting one crutch with other just to fall over anyway, but personally I find the site interesting (though mostly from a conceptual viewpoint). The catchiness of popular music can be sickening. A song being catchy doesn’t mean that the song is “excellent” or “bad” in any sense. Any kind of song that is overplayed ends up wearing thin, and catchy songs always suffer that fate. Think of “Shiny Happy People”, for example.

REM grew to dislike the song so much because of the exposure it had that they didn’t even include it on their “Best Of” album. And “Shiny Happy People” was the one and only song of theirs to hit the Top 5 in both sides of the Atlantic. I think that example speaks for itself, and it also proves why a site like this one can be potentially useful – it can prevent songs that are not bad at all from becoming a nuisance.

UnhearIt.com In Their Own Words

“Get that damn song out of your head.”

Why UnhearIt.com It Might Be A Killer

The site is absolutely unique in its concept and approach. And once the service becomes even more developed, it might just appeal to a larger public.
