    TuneIn.com - Mining Social Media

    tunein

You can’t complain if you are always looking for new ways to boost your tweeting time. There are more apps and tools released than you could ever possibly have the time to try out in person. As such, it is good to know which ones are worth taking a look at, and which ones are about as captivating as the final season of Prison Break. Or any season after the first one, for that matter.

This tool can be placed into the former category, as it lets Twitter users have access to a channel that includes every media item that has surfaced. This includes video files and photographs as well as articles raging far and wide. You simply click on the streams of other people and away you go.

Note that audio files can not be recommended – yet. The programmer hopes that will be addressed in due time. He also hopes to add support for Facebook streams. Meanwhile, you can pay the site a visit and see if any of the recommended items are up your street or whether you are better off crawling the web on your own devices. But chances are you are going to find it useful.

    In their own words

“Social and "new" media websites have enabled us all to create a river of information, most recently in the form of real-time streams. There is gold in those streams. Daily, hourly, minute-by-minute gold. People have started mining that gold, not only for their own personal benefit, but also for their friends. With services like Twitter and Facebook, people, rather than algorithms, are providing the most valuable take on what's worth reading, watching and hearing. They are bringing perspective to an otherwise fuzzy picture, helping determine what's signal and what's noise.”

Why it might be a killer

There is so much media doing the rounds in the social web that anything which lets you have access to the cream of the cream is a good tool any way you look at it.

    Some questions

How do you get started? Do you have to submit your Twitter credentials in order to do so?
