Theleakfactory.com - Music, Video and Art Portal

    theleakfactory

The Leak Factory is a unique site that allows users to search for content and information about videos, art and advertisements. Artists and producers can upload their content and connect with fans in a unique online community while advertisers can reach potential customers through a very unique advertising model. Advertisements are never forced on users, rather, users select which advertisers interest them and then receive updated news about them through email. The site functions by allowing users to search for content and save it to a preferences list. This content can be anything from music or videos to advertisers that they are interested in. Anytime something or someone is updated on their preferences list, the user will be notified by email.

    In their own words

The Leak Factory, a startup company, was founded in January 2006, and created with the intention of improving the online experience of all Internet users. The goal of The Leak Factory is to become the central location for the exchange of relevant and requested information, messages, content and advertisements, between Users, Artists and Advertisers. The Leak Factory will provide Users with a site that doesn’t bombard them with unwanted content or interrupt their online viewing experience with ads before, during of after content they view.

Why it might be a killer

Many of us have become frustrated with “in your face” advertising which we are obligated to view daily. By removing the strict requirement to view advertising and placing it in the hands of the user, they could become doubly successful. Each advertisement would be worth more since advertisers would rather pay to show their wares to someone who actually wants to see them. So, if this works, it will make the user, the advertiser and the creator of the website happy.

    Some questions

While the business model is interesting it might not work. People don’t in general like advertising so why would they elect to receive any?
