TheGoldenCatapult.com - Music Site Demands Upload Fee

    thegoldencatapult

The Golden Catapault is a new music exchange service in which members can upload and download music for a fee. The site is mainly geared at artists as a means to get their music out, but unlike other sites, there is an uploading registration fee. MP3s are sold singly and are delivered without DRM. Artists can add a short description as well as any artwork they may have with their tracks. You can search for music by country, genre, title and keywords. All tracks can be previewed and purchased via PayPal and most major credit cards. There's really not much on the site yet, but if you like Turkish folk/rock you might find a song or two to your liking.

    In their own words

"The Golden Catapult is your music share place.
A place where bands, artists and musicans can upload and sell their music to interessted people all over the world. To ensure the quality of the uploaded music a registration fee for "uploaders" is charged".

Why it might be a killer

The site has a nice clean, slick interface. Also like the name, sounds mythic. Good way for unknown artists to get their music out.

    Some questions

Unfortunately this site is plagued by problems. There are only four artists on the site for one thing. It's difficult to add songs to your basket, artists' pages don't identify the artist, there's no indication of the price of each track, the press releases are written in Germanized English, and users have to pay to upload their music. Will anyone be interested at all?
