    Soundamus.net - Creates Release Feeds for Last.fm

    soundamus

Music and music based apps, networks, etc have gained momentum in the era of Web 2.0. A constant throng of music services are being developed. Some of these leverage the musical collections of their community members, while others make use of, and improve upon other apps. Soundamus falls into the latter category. This new site integrates with Last.fm and its Scrobbler technology to bring you release information in a feed for artists you listen to based on your history on the site. The first time you use Soundamus, the process may take anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes; however, afterwards, your feed will be up to date immediately. This also works for Last.fm groups. To use it, simply enter in your Last.fm user ID and hit the ‘feed me’ button. You can add the information it pulls up to Outlook and GCal.

    In their own words

“new and upcoming music releases from the artists you listen to”

Why it might be a killer

This is a very simple concept, but it’s a good idea nonetheless. It’s very easy to use too, it takes a couple of clicks and you’ve got a feed. It’s useful for staying on top of news relating to your favorite bands. The calendar integration works quite well too.

    Some questions

Some people may not have the patience to wait 30 minutes for a feed to come up; also, some items that do appear on your feed are repeated. Users may complain that Soundamus doesn’t offer them information about the artists they are really interested in.
