Songbird is both a media player and a platform. Like FireFox, Songbird is an open source, open web project built on the Mozilla platform and it promises to radically alter the way we listen to music. Songbird provides developers with both desktop and web APIs allowing them to make web media mash-ups. Think of this as a media player that will become used across the web for music distribution and playing. The player itself is very sleek looking and loaded with options that should make it an instant hit. Think of this as the Firefox of media players as developers will increasingly use Songbird to offer their media online.
