SlideShare is a content sharing site where you can host and display presentations. Maybe you would use it to show your professional work, or just for personal photo sharing, power point presentations about your latest entrepreneurial idea, or graphics you designed. You can spend time perusing other peoples" slides, and create a community of members among which you can view and critique each others" slideshows. You can also embed the slideshows in blogs.

SlideShare Inc is a startup based in Mountain View, California (USA) and New Delhi (India). It was founded by Rashmi Sinha, Jon Boutelle and Amit Ranjan. It’s been in development for over two months, and now, it’s finally live! Go to SlideShare.net and you’ll see a brand new, redesigned homepage. The earlier homepage had been around since SlideShare launched last year. A lot of things have changed and many new sections and features have been added to the site. So, we felt the homepage needed an update to showcase those changes. Some new modules, like ‘Spotlight’, ‘Events’, and a featured slideshow, have been added to the homepage.

The site is great and loaded with cool features. The Groups are great because you can see a bunch of slideshows centered upon a specific theme, like Web 2.0 just for one example.

Is slideshow-sharing ever going to be as funny, realistic, and useful as video sharing?
