Polanoid.net - Bringing Back the Instant Fun

With the rise of digital photography, we’ve lost much of the physicality that used to come with taking pictures. Polanoid celebrates the instant gratification of taking pictures while seeing the results in a physical form that is Polaroid pictures.

It’s a site with the aim of creating the biggest online collection of Polaroid pictures from all over the world. You can search by tags, by user, by upload date, by date the shot was taken, by location, and more. It’s easy to add comments and vote on your favorite shots, maybe adding your favorite photographers to your list of friends. They also have contests constantly running, currently asking for Polaroids of your favorite designed item. Because Polaroids have a certain private, personal touch since you can be the only one to see the shot if you so desire, they have a separate collection of shots called “x-posed” that you need to be a member and have uploaded Polaroids to use. A recent addition to their site is the addition of a section for uploading analog movies. These remind me of the opening credits to The Wonder Years. There’s a lot of interesting shots and films to browse over if you are into the analog film style, or if you have some Polaroids lying around, scan them in and become part of the community.
