OneLlama.com - Search For Music Via The Llama

    onellama

Music discovery site One Llama is rather reminiscent of Last.fm except for the customizable llama mascot. To use it, first you must type in a song or artist. This will bring about some graphical branching action in which Llama suggests similar sounding songs; click on a song to hear a preview. Alternately, you can create a playlist of similar artists, (again starting with an artist/song query) which you can share on Facebook or Myspace, or you can simply save it to your Llama account. You also browse fellow Llama account holders’ playlists and profile info. Finally, while listening to your brand new playlists, you can have a little fun dressing up Llama dearest in crazy costumes and wigs. The optional iTunes plug-in lets you create and discover playlists directly in iTunes (also lets you export songs directly). Llama’s absolutely free to join, but you can browse its features without signing up.

The company develops acoustic analysis, cultural analysis and collaborative filtering tools for music and video navigation, discovery and search. One Lllama provides its software to online media aggregators, distributors, and stores interested in improving the way their customers navigate and search for audio assets. Additionally, the Company provides its tools direct to the consumer through its website, www.onelllama.com for building and sharing music playlists.”

Why it might be a killer

OneLlama is fantastic. It has a clutter-free and clean layout. It’s got a fresh, crisp-lined look which is a nice respite from similar, yet bombastic looking music discovery site. You’ve got to love the llama too. It’s really easy to use, has a great, simple UI and it’s got the music you want.

    Some questions

Music discovery sites are old hat. Will One Llama be able to make a name for itself and beat the strong competition? Are more features on the way?
