OneLlama.com - Love Music? Love the Llama

    onellama

One Llama is yet another Music discovery startup, where you can design your llama, discover new music, make playlists and then share those playlists. This company believes they have the correct formula for analyzing your musical tastes. Acoustic and cultural analysis are performed, and collaborative filtering tools for music and video search. Based on these factors, and songs that simply sound like eachother, you’ll receive more and more relevant results, discovering new tunes you might not have otherwise encountered. From there you can build your personalized playlist and then share it with your friends, the only people who appreciate Pat Benetar as much as you do.

    In their own words

One Llama Media is a leader in audio analysis, search and discovery systems. The company develops acoustic analysis, cultural analysis and collaborative filtering tools for music and video navigation, discovery and search. One Llama provides its software to online media aggregators, distributors, and stores interested in improving the way their customers navigate and search for audio assets. Additionally, the Company provides its tools direct to the consumer through its website, www.onellama.com for building and sharing music playlists. The Company is backed by IllinoisVENTURES and is located in Champaign, Illinois.

Why it might be a killer

This space is already so crowded, but since Pandora is facing some international copywriting issues, there is a spanking new space open for a new player. I really like Llama’s interface, great colors, graphics and logos, easy to navigate. I’d like to know more about their search and discovery analytics, if they can redefine and tack on more DNA factors to their algorithm they’ll be making a step in the right direction.

    Some questions

Looks like they’re offering up their technology towards media aggregators and ecommerce stores. Will these distributors be motivated enough to switch to such a premature startup? Could they add more factors of compatibility towards their algorithm? What is involved in their acoustic analysis?
