MusicTonic is a mash-up of a bunch of sources for music information. You can find artists based on their genre or by searching for them specifically. Each artist has their own page. On the page includes album information with links to Amazon in case you´d like to purchase them, a collection of pictures from the artist, a listing of YouTube videos from them and a video player, a list of the latest related news articles on them, and a list of artists who are similar. The services used to mash-up this information include Amazon, YouTube, Last.fm, Yahoo Search, Flickr, Technorati, and OpenStrands. It´s a cool way to see a lot of information on your favorite artists all in one location.
| Why it might be a killer | |||
The site is well designed and people will want to check out a source where they can get a bunch of information from all of their favorite services at one place, versus having to go to all of the various sites to get information about artists one-by-one. It´s also easy to find new artists you may be interested in, which keeps users on the site.
| Some questions | |||
How will they compete with sites like FoxyTunes Planet that includes more features, such as lyrics and a music player? Will people check out this site or other mash-ups of music content? How will they publicize themselves? Are they hoping to just make a profit based on sales through Amazon, and if so, is that enough?
