Movino.org - Broadcast Live from Your Mobile

    movino

Here’s a cool, new and open source project which lets you send live video feeds from your phone to your website-- it’s called Movino. Movino is geared specifically for Linux and Mac OS X, however, Windows based phone users can stream live video to a Linux or Mac computer, provided they download Movino to their phone first. There are several downloads available: a broadcasting app for Symbian S60 and J2ME camera phones, a GUI app for Mac OS X, a video server for Linux and a web interface built on Drupal CMS. Mac owners can use Movino to receive a movie stream over Bluetooth, preview it and record it to a local file and serve it over http to their site. The stream can also be relayed to a video server. The web interface provides an arena for you to show your video, also allowing voting and commenting.

    In their own words

“Broadcast LIVE video from your mobile phone over 3G or WIFI onto your website. Or use your pohen as a Bluetooth webcam in Mac OS X. Free and Open Source.”

Why it might be a killer

Movino has got a simple, cool interface for one. It’s also free and open source, and it connects your video stream from your phone to your website in a few fell steps. It’s slick. For users who want to keep their readers up to date whenever, this is a great way to go about it.

    Some questions

Will a Windows version be developed? How responsive is this? Doesn't run smoothly?
