    Launchosiris.com - Osiris - Visualizing Song Lyrics

Osiris is the brainchild of a young team of students from Brown University would wanted to create an innovate connection between images and music. This isn't MTV online, although the team did win a grant from the music video company's university branch (MTVu) to launch their product.

Osiris goes beyond the music video by aiming to provide a service that synchronizes song lyrics with various visual media (photos, graphics, etc). The application works by integrating itself with your current media player to identify the artist of each song. Then, Osiris quickly scans the net for song lyrics and downloads them, tagging each descript word. In turn, these tags are used to search the Flickr database for images with the same tag. Finally, Osiris will "automatically blend, filter, float, transform, or transpose entire series of images into dynamic musical visualizations".

    Launchosiris.com In their own words

"Osiris is a music visualizer that interfaces tagged photos, digital music, and song lyrics to create a synesthasia effect. You don't have to just listen to your music anymore, but you can watch it".

Why Launchosiris.com might be a killer

Not only is the Osiris idea totally innovative (isn't everyone tired of those antiquated neon audio visualizations anyway?), it's also inviting to investor and the press. The team does a great job of professionally yet personally catering their site to potential contributing parties; there is a separate page devoted to each category of business and media inquiry. As the product was just launched, it will be interesting and exciting to see what lies ahead for Osiris. I will certainly be watching with a close eye, since one of Osiris's developers is a fellow high school alum.

    Some questions about Launchosiris.com

In general, the Osiris website maintains a light-yet-professional tone, but in some places the languages borders on the juvenile, which may deter potential investors. It's also unclear what companies have already invested in Osiris; besides the grant from MTVu, where are the funds coming from? It would be useful and beneficial for the site to feature a list of their investors and/or partners.
