Do you think that the
airwaves do not reflect the way you
feel about
music? Are you sick of turning your radio on only to listen to Miley Cyrus, Kanye West et al? If that question was answered affirmatively, this website will come across as more than appealing to you.
In principle, Jelli is a solution that advocates for radio democracy, and that has the objective of putting the airwaves within reach and control of the average listeners.
How is that actually executed? Well, you (as the user) can take over the Jelli radio and determine what will be played and what will keep from being blasted away. The idea is to turn broadcasting into something truly live and dynamic. A bit like listening to your favourite song from your favorite album, but only that the process is taken care of somewhere the vast majority of people will be paying attention: the social web.
The approach is certainly refreshing – you can virtually
bomb a song while it is playing, and show others what the expression “Let’s have some music!” truly stands for. I know more than a handful of individuals who will take a liking to it.
