    iShare.Rediff.com - India's Version of YouTube

    ishare

iShare.Rediff.com almost sounds like it is part of the iPod and iTunes line when you first hear it, until you hear Rediff attached to it. Rediff is already a giant portal company in India. The site does exactly what YouTube does, except you can share files on IShare.Rediff.com and another interesting twist: it is mainly for Indians in India, and in the states, but all of the text is in English. The Indians will definitely use this, it has only been up for a short while and people have already upload a huge amount of photos and videos to the site. It is a great niche, why would the Indians want to use YouTube and search through a mountain of unrelated subjects, when they can get on iShare and find exactly what caters to them, and then if they want something else, then they can switch to YouTube momentarily.

    In their own words

iShare is an easy and fun way to share your videos, photos and music with your friends. Share , Search and have fun.

Why it might be a killer

With the Indian economy on the rise and so many of them becoming fluent in English and working in American companies outsourced over there, it is only natural for them to want to get a taste of or YouTube culture, but it makes more sense for them to hve their own version that they can call their own and share with their friends and family here in the states and back in Bangalore. The site is already experiencing a ton of traffic. This could be a big winner.

    Some questions

This site is a little bit unappealing to the eye, but it is traditional Indian colors and I'm sure the target market doesn't feel the same way. It is hard to find negatives for this company, it seems like a great idea that will take off.
