FreeTube is similar to the other streaming web TV channels, only this one gets a lot more viewership. The product is similar, it offers categories of TV channels and an online screen. The only difference I could see was that underneath its screen there is a good description of the channel and a link for making technological fixes. The other main difference was the type of Google ads shown -- this site had ads obviously geared towards a young male audience (lots of adult content being pushed, if you know what i mean). I guess they appeal to a key consumer demographic, which is working to FreeTube"s benefit. They are in the process of making upgrades to the site, including repairing nonfunctioning channels and allowing the screen to go full size (just now they are doing this?), but i would imagine they have a lot of money to play with given their top 1000 Alexa ranking.

Any site in the top 700 of Alexa ranking must be doing something right. For whatever reason, this site is getting the most viewership in this genre of free internet TV channels. Also, since their Google ads are targeting the male MTV generation, they are hitting a key consumer demographic which can only help them in making a profit and keep a young viewership.

While they are making some necessary fundamental upgrades to the site, why are they not doing more innovation to the genre? What is the appeal of this site as compared to their competitors? Given their high traffic volume, why do they not have corporate sponsorship for much bigger money that Google ads (or so I would guess it is much bigger money)?
