Dimpls.com - Snapshots of Everyday Life

Dimpls is a freshly launched photo sharing site which revolves around the ‘day in the life of’ idea. Think Twitter but with photos. Sign up and start snapping away as soon as you get up from bed. Take a picture of your croissant and coffee, of the view from your bedroom window, of your cat…whatever. Dimpl wants to see it. Then, post them, tag them and add captions. Other users can browse through the snapshots of your life and add their own comments. There’s also a revenue sharing plan. You can place logos and ads next to your pictures and you’ll get paid for each click. Other features include tag clouds, search, and profiles.

  In their own words

“Dimpls is photo sharing which reflect a slice of your life. Ever wonder what a day in the life growing up in Hollywood, Iceland, or on a Caribbean island is like? Curious to know what a typical day in the life for a lawyer, firefighter or movie star is like? With Dimpls photo sharing, you can checkout the typical (or not so typical) life of a person living anywhere in the world. Plus, you can add your comments, rate each dimpl, or just sit back and take it all in. To view Dimpls, you dont need to register, but if you'd like to share your own, you'll need an account first. So what are you waiting for? Start sharing your day in my life photos!”

Why it might be a killer

Dimpls has a naïve folksy aesthetic and an interesting hook. The day in the life of concept provides for miniature story arcs from people of all walks of life; judging from the popularity of sharing minutiae on sites like Twitter, this could do quite well . The site’s ad plan is also rather novel. Users can basically become their own advertisers.

  Some questions

The photos tend to be dull—people already blog about it, so do we really want to see what you ate for lunch? Besides that, the overall quality of photos isn’t too hot. Also, the ad revenue scheme needs some work.
