CitySounds.fm - The Soundtrack To Your City

    citysounds

Not every city or place in the world has an “official” song. That is, not every location has a song like “My Old Kentucky Home” or “Georgia In My Mind” that people instantly associate with it. This startup aims to set that to right, by compiling the songs that can be deemed as the soundtrack to major cities the world over. That music itself is collected trough SoundCloud.com.

The most “active” cities occupy the top spots of the list, and when I checked out the site London was in first followed by Berlin and Los Angeles. London had twice as much songs as its nearest competitor (it almost numbered a thousand tracks). Note that whenever you are listening to a city’s soundtrack you are presented with photographs which have been retrieved from Flickr.

Every person I know is keen on music to a lesser or bigger extent. A site like this one will let the ones who are keener indulge in their passion quite effortlessly, and also have a good look at some of the most salient locations within each city. All in all, good way to while away some hours.

    In their own words

“Hello! CitySounds.fm lets you listen to the latest music from cities around the world. At the top is the most active cities and the list is constantly changing as new music is being created. To collect the latest music we use professional audio platform SoundCloud.com. City photos are fetched from Flickr.com. The site is built with HTML, Rails, jQuery and SoundManager 2.”

Why it might be a killer

Music enthusiasts are certain to love such a service, as it lets them know what is being played everywhere.

    Some questions
