    Cherrypeel.com - A Digg For Undiscovered Music

    cherrypeel

This site can be accurately described as a Digg for undiscovered music. That is, a community site where the visitors themselves decide what songs are worth listening to by voting on submissions spanning the world over.

Users can not only vote on the tracks that are featured, but they can also create playlists in order to showcase their tastes and have quick access to any interesting find they might have come across on the site. Of course, playlists are also useful for sharing purposes.

The main objective of the site is to make unknown artists known and give users the opportunity to listen to music without corporations standing in the middle. I know many people that will find such a prospect appealing. If you are one of them, your speakers are in for a good time indeed. And if you are an emerging artist, the site might just let you reach a receptive public and start building solid bonds.

    In their own words

“In our opinion, major labels, radio stations, and TV channels have been the only ones with the power to decide the artists and genres that get heard. We are trying to give the power back to the fans. Our goal is to help music lovers find new and exciting music easily and conveniently without the intervention of corporations. Our voting system ensures songs chosen by you will rise to the top of our chart. Artists will generate free publicity and hopefully a strong fan base as they rise to number one. Songs are ranked on votes over time, so the music on the ‘popular’ chart will constantly be changing. Cherrypeel helps making unknown artists, known.”

Why it might be a killer

Those who are bored with mainstream music will find it a breath of fresh air.
