CAMfess.com - Anonymous Online Video Confessions

If there is validity to the adage "the truth will set you free," CAMfess.com might be a useful site.

You can submit an anonymous video confession, or secret, by using their patented technology called the "CAMfess Anonymizer" (it is similar to the method used on news shows or talk shows where they obscure the face and voice). Confession is a tricky thing, but certainly the Catholic church encourages regular confession and some psychologists believe it is a necessary cathartic ritual to ease torment and guilt. The site encourages users to use the site to express whatever thought, feeling, opinion, knowledge, etc. they want to unload, and thereby feel much better afterwards. If people want the confession/secret to be public, that is obviously an option too (but please no public criminal confessions here, because I can only imagine the legal complications that will create). Oh, and people are allowed to rate and comment on your confession.

Secret deodorant had a whole national advertising campaign around women telling their secrets (and i guess then wanting to be their deodorant?), so I imagine this site will find an audience. And, there is some persuasive reasoning behind telling confessions/secrets as a way to unburden the soul. I mean, why wait until your deathbed to reveal that affair?

Do enough people have webcams or videos that they will use this site? Is there a purpose behind a video confession as opposed to a written one? And, do people really want to watch these videos, esp if the identity of the person is hidden and you can only see a blurred face?
