The Musical Brain from EchoNest is a new music platform designed to analyze music. This is the first of what will be several Musical Brain APIs which is designed to improve on and expand the capabilities of music based web services. The brain will mimic human actions but on a much larger scale. It’s able to read about music from millions of blog posts, reviews and forums to understand how communities on the net describe songs and artists. It listens to music analyzing attributes such as tempo, rhythm, energy, and time signature. And finally, it learns about music trends by analyzing buzz, downloads, and headlines. The first API will let you upload a song and receive a XML musical store which breaks down tempo, beats, timbre and other musical attributes.
