Spinjay.com is an open DJ community. In it, users create and share their lists, or ask the community to help them out by briefly describing what they are looking for (duration of playlist, artist, genre, occasion they will be using it at, etc), and other members submit their original playlists; all the community gets to vote on the presented tracklists, and the user gets to choose one, which will be delivered directly to his/her inbox. The users that submitted the winning playlist get awarded points, which sum up to make him/her one of the community’s favorite DJs.

“What can I do at SpinJay?
* Have DJs make playlists customized just for you
* Share your love of music and become a star DJ by creating playlists
* Search the back catalog of playlists and discover great music”
| Why it might be a killer | |||
|

Since the site gathers people from around the world, it is always good news to have people coming from different cultures and backgrounds to submit content, because it is possibly the best way to get to know stuff you’d otherwise hardly stumble upon. Also, since membership is free, it is a cool place to practice to become a DJ.

Upon becoming a member, users can browse other playlists, and choose to buy or download the tracks from iTunes or Napster. However, there are no sample playlists, likes the ones you can hear at sites like Last.fm. Granted, this site has benefits over it, but the ability to listen to the stuff you are interested in is really what makes any music site interesting. If I need to keep going to other sites in order to get to see if the music is what I am looking for, it isn’t really practical. How can they tackle this issue?
