The Covers Project is exactly what it sounds like, a site with covers of songs from your favorite bands. They use Spotback´s widgets for listeners to rate and comment on songs and then have them listed in order of highest score for votes in the side bar. You can listen to all of the songs for free, though you can´t download them. The point is to hear song that you´ve heard of covered by other bands (generally unknown), so that you get interested in listening to their other material. Once you find a song you´ve enjoyed, you can share it through most of the typical bookmarking and sharing sites.

“The Covers Proj ctâ„¢ began as a simple idea to help you discover new music by showcasing covers of famous songs. On this site, you can search for your favorite artists and listen to different renditions of their songs. If you like what you hear, you can listen to the covering artist´s original material too. It´s a lot of fun and a great way of enjoying the songs you love.”

There isn´t another site that makes covers of songs so easy to find and listen to and there are a lot out there. They already have two decent sponsors. It´s another way for people to find new artists.

How many people will really contribute to this site? There´ve only been seven contributed songs in February and March. How will they market themselves so that people start actually contributing to their site and they get some site traffic?
