Thanks-O-Meter.com - Show Your Gratitude To Others

    thanks-o-meter

People do nice things. Everyday. It is a bit discouraging to turn on the news and only listen to negative stories. Fortunately, there are online resources that attempt to redress the situation as best as they can. The one we are reviewing right now is a good example.

Generally speaking, the site collects together the testimonies of people who are thankful for something that has happened to them. That is, you can choose a “thank you” from a drop-down list that includes “For being helpful”, “For being honest”, “For being a great teacher”… you get the idea. Then, you have to pick the relevant choice from a “Choose how it made you feel!” box. In this particular case, the options include “Loved”, “Proud” and “Appreciated” to name but three. In final place, you can choose to share a full story or not.

By aggregating these gestures and presenting them in such an easy-to-access manner, it can be said that the site does a worthy contribution towards making the world we inhabit a better place by reflecting positive energy and energy, and sort of amplifying it so that everybody remembers that while it’s true that “It’s not always May” (as Longfellow put it), it is equally true that “The sun also rises”.

    In their own words

“Thanks-o-meter.com is a place to focus on the positive aspects of life. Can you make it though a day or week without someone smiling and saying hello? Opening a door for you, letting you merge into traffic, offering to help, or sharing some of their wisdom? These may not be the sort of things which draw much attention. They probably are not news-worthy. Yet, they are vital to the fabric of our society. It's these little things that give us a sense of community. Have you had someone do something truly exceptional for you? Have you been rescued, mentored, or impacted in a positive way by someone? This is your forum to share a story of what others have done for you. When others read these stories, they are reminded of the kind, generous, and courageous people in the world.”
