    StackOverflow.com - Programming Q & A Site

    stackoverflow

A resource that is geared towards programmers, Stack Overflow provides said individuals with the chance to post questions for the consideration of the online community. As it is stated on the site, no question is too newbie to be asked. The only requisite that has to be complied with is that the question must be programming-related. The aim is to cover every programming and operating system as the project gathers pace and evolves.

The site has a clear layout, and a navigation menu that touches upon items such as “Questions”, “Tags” and “Users” is included. This menu also includes a “Unanswered” category that collects together these questions that defied and still defy resolution, in the hope they will be duly dealt with.

Stack Overflow is free and open to everybody, but those who wish can register in an inexpensive manner and collect karma that is then displayed next to their names. Posting a question is also very simple, and you don’t have to register either. You just type in your query and provide the relevant tags. You also furnish your name, or sign using an OpenID in order to identify yourself.

    In their own words

“Stack Overflow is a programming Q & A site that's free. Free to ask questions, free to answer questions, free to read, free to index, built with plain old HTML, no fake rot13 text on the home page, no scammy google-cloaking tactics, no salespeople, no JavaScript windows dropping down in front of the answer asking for $12.95 to go away. You can register if you want to collect karma and win valuable flair that will appear next to your name, but otherwise, it's just free. And fast. Very, very fast.”

Why it might be a killer

It is an initiative which is certain to be appreciated by programmers from pole to pole.

    Some questions

Can you ask questions about any operating system whatsoever like Amiga OS?
